FAQ’s – Year 4 Eleven Plus Booster
1. When can my child start?
You can start at any time of the academic year and your child(ren) will make progress. However, to get the most out of the booster classes we recommend starting at the beginning of the academic year.
2. Does my child have to start eleven plus preparation in year 4, can they not start in year 5?
3. What year groups are the booster classes for?
4. How long are the booster classes?
Our year 4 eleven plus booster classes are 2 hours and 10 minutes long. Children have a one hour of English / verbal reasoning lesson, then a 10-minute break followed by a second hour maths / non verbal reasoning lesson.
5. How many children are there in the booster classes?
6. How will you teach my child(ren)?
Children learn in various ways whether they it be visual, auditory, reading / writing or kinesthetic. All our tutors are very experienced with teaching children using various methods to ensure they understand what is being taught. Eleven plus tutors give lots of examples whether it be using the whiteboard, discussing verbally or demonstrating practically.
7. Will my child(ren) receive homework?
8. How much homework will my child(ren) receive?
Homework will vary on a week by week basis. Unlike our English and Maths booster classes, Our eleven plus courses do require considerably more homework to be completed. This starts off slow in year 4 and builds up considerably in year 5.
9. Will I be informed regularly of my child(ren)s progress?
10. What qualifications and experience do the tutors have?
All our eleven plus tutors are fully qualified teachers with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). In addition to this our eleven plus tutors have specialist knowledge , experience and skills around delivering content relevant to the eleven plus entrance examinations.
FAQ’s – Year 5 Eleven Plus Booster
1. When can my child start?
You can start at any time of the academic year and your child(ren) will make progress. However, we strongly recommended that year 5 students start lessons from September in year 5. The year 5 11+ is an extremely intense programme of study and as a result we the earlier a child start as the programme of study is pretty intense.
2. What year groups are the booster classes for?
The year 5 11+ booster groups are only for children in year 5.
3. How many hours is the year 5 11+ booster?
Our year 5 eleven plus booster classes are 4 hours weekly. children study for 2:10 minutes on the weekend, this is the main class. They then study an additional 2:10 minutes on one of the weekday evenings, this is a revision class. Children study English, verbal reasoning, maths and non verbal reasoning lesson.
4. Does my child have to attend the revision class during the week?
We strongly recommend they attend as it is a part of the course and they will be missing out on a complete programme of study.

FAQ’s – 1-2-1 Tuition
1. When can my child start?
You can start at any time of the academic year and your child(ren) will make progress. However, we strongly recommended that eleven plus students start lessons at the latest from September in year 5. The eleven plus is an extremely intense programme of study and as a result the earlier a child starts the better.
2. How long are the lessons?
Our 1-2-1 lessons are hourly and we recommend at least 1 hour a week for year 4 children and ideally 2 hours a week for year 5 children.
3. How many children are there in the lesson?
There will be one tutor dedicated to one students during all 1-2-1 tutoring sessions making them an extremely targeted form of learning support.

Yes. Children are given homework on a weekly basis (except for assessment weeks). All homework is based on what a child has learnt in the lesson and is designed to reinforce their learning. Once returned, homework is marked and explained with further examples.

Our 1-2-2 lessons are hourly and we recommend at 1 hour a week for year 4 children and ideally 2 hours a week fr year 5 children.

FAQ’s – Intensive Revision & Mock Exams
1. When can we get 1. Are these revision and mock sessions suitable for the 11+ examination my child will be taking? ?
2. How many children are there in the revision classes and mock analysis sessions?
We have children from across the Midlands attending these courses. Every year is different, however on overage we have approximately a ratio of 10 students to one of our 11+ specialists for revision classes and analysis sessions.

5. How do I know if my child is suitable for the revision classes and mock exams?
If your child is sitting an eleven plus exam in September then these revision courses help prepare them for these exams. However not all children are suitable for the eleven plus entrance examinations. A general rule is that your child should already be achieving above average at his/her school. In addition to this we are happy for you to come in for a free consultation and assessment to gage suitability. Please contact us to arrange.

Children are given revision booklets after attending the intensive revision sessions to further help them revise and prepare for the actual 11+ examinations. Mock examination papers cannot be taken away, however tutors will highlight areas a child needs to work on after papers have been marked and analysed.
